Holiday Location: La Gomera, Canary Islands

Reflections is a dance retreat taught by Alain Allard and Sarah Pitchford

Dancing by the Pool

This 5Rhythms holiday is held in the very special retreat centre Finca Argayall a place to relax and reflect. Set in the lush permaculture plantation nestling between the mountains and the sea. This retreat centre is the perfect place to move and dance, feel your body come alive and release old ways of being and welcome something new. We will be served delicious vegetarian meals in a nurturing environment where we can take time to listen and take in this powerful natural environment.
There will be structured 5 rhythms dance sessions every day, and the availability of bodywork, sunbathing and siestas.
Each participant has the option of a 40 minute personal session with Alain for conversation, consultation, movement or a mixture of all 3.
The course has been carefully structured to best suit participants needs for focused study of the 5Rhythms coupled with retreat and reflection time,  and space for relaxation rest and holiday.   Participants find that the balance of time fits their needs perfectly.  The timings of reflections are as follows:

Each participant has the option of a one-to-one 40 minute session with Alain, slots for which are chosen on arrival.  These slots are either early morning before the dance sessions or late afternoon before dinner.

5Rhythms intense classes begin promptly at 10am and finish by 1:30pm in time for lunch.

Afternoons are left free for Relaxation, Swimming, Sunbathing, Treatments at the Finca* (Massage etc), Exploration of the permaculture gardens and the beaches, bars, cafes and shops in town.  Many participants also choose to explore the rain forest interior of the island and other walks, which they organise independently with advice from the Finca office. La Gomera is famous for boat trips to see dolphins and whales. These optional afternoon excursions* can be arranged at the Finca with knowledgeable and experienced guides familiar with the local waters and dolphin populations.  Observing and sensing the movement and freedom of the dolphins is very liberating and inspires our dance in the studio.

We have found that this free time is an important part of the reflective experience of this retreat.

There is generally a dance party on the last night.

The Finca also offer  early morning meditation sessions which many participants attend.
