This workshop, a combination of “Waves”, “Heartbeat” and “Mirrors” level 5Rhythms® study, creates a carefully structured space for us to responsibly uncover and witness some of the everyday habits of how we are, how we affect each other and the stories we regularly tell ourselves with a familiar internal voice.
Rooted through practical embodiment of the Rhythms we include “Heartbeat” study; the physical movement of human emotions. We do this as dance, creatively exploring ways that the energy of emotions naturally move through our bodies.
The physical expression of emotion is as natural to Life as breathing, but we commonly hold our breath, freeze our bodies and repress emotion. Whilst still children we develop personal defences to the organic expression of what is moving in us, and so stop the flow of life energy with old stories we keep telling ourselves and barely hear.
Bones, breath, and muscles hold vital questions about who we are, where we have come from, what we need, what we fear, and what we have to give….

This workshop, grounded in all levels of 5Rhythms® study, creates a carefully structured space for us to responsibly uncover and witness some of the everyday habits of how we are, how we affect each other and the stories we regularly tell ourselves with a familiar internal voice.
Rooted in physical movement, fuelled with the potency of our Life experience we creatively explore ways that the energy of emotions and thoughts naturally move through our bodies.
The non verbal, dynamic expression of emotion is as natural to Life as breathing, but we commonly hold our breath, freeze our bodies and repress our feelings. Whilst still children we develop personal defences to the organic expression of what is moving in us, and so stop the flow of life energy with old stories we keep telling ourselves and barely hear.
Bones, breath, and muscles are a deep repository of our life journey which reveal much about who we are, where we have come from, what we need, what we fear, and what we have to give. The “Open Floor” process supported by the movement through many maps of the rhythms allows us as a group to release, reclaim and review our relationship to daily life.
This workshop is a profound shared meditation rooted in a safe structure for all who participate to responsibly witness, support and share with each other in a process of reconnection, recognition and acceptance. It paves the way for insight, maturity and possible intentional change and uplifts and unifies all who participate.
It is particularly suited for students with a strong grounding in the 5rhythms who have an interest in process, self development and meditative enquiry. No experience of the “Open Floor” is necessary but participants need to have at least 30 hours of 5Rhythms study with an accredited teacher, and an understanding of spoken English. Enrolment on this group is generally by application only.
The workshop timetable is as follows:
Thursday 17th 1-5 p.m
Friday 18th 10.30 am – 6pm
Saturday 19th 10.30 am – 6 pm
Sunday 20th 10.30 am- 4.30 pm

This workshop is an ideal way both to begin and to deepen an exploration of the many layers of wisdom and freedom available to us through the dance of the 5Rhythms®.
Our bodies store so much experience that is waiting to be accessed and released once we have focussed sufficiently to shift our attention from head to feet.
In doing this we unleash beautiful creative expression that serves as a meditation of great connection and is catalytic in bringing us to see our habits and the possibility of desired change and growth.
The intention for this weekend is to give a taste of the rich maps of the 5Rhythms that we can study in depth on an Ongoing Program. If you are thinking to join an Ongoing Programme, or just want to dance deeply in a safe environment then this is an opportunity to dive in. You are welcome.

This weekend intensive in the 5Rhythms is an opportunity both for experienced dancers and non dancers alike to release and refresh the abundant creativity, intelligence and passion that lives in our bodies.
We dance ourselves back into balance and so reconnect to the essential self buried in the seemingly drab demands of daily routine. This is active meditation practise. We focus deeply and we cleanse ourselves through the sweat of our presence.
The maps of the 5 rhythms when laid out by well trained and experienced teachers provide a clear and dynamic structure to guide each person, regardless of age or experience to remember themselves as sentient beings in a beautiful, vibrant and fascinating world. To dance is to find again the power of breath, community, clarity, health and freedom so reconnecting to the vibrancy of both the magic and the mundane of life itself

Our focus for this workshop is on how to be present in the face of this fast paced and often chaotic world around us given our inability to control it.
Using the maps of the 5Rhythms to be embodied, present with moment to moment experience without abandoning our own centre. We pay particular attention to the relationship between Chaos and Stillness, dancing the 5Rhythms through a continuum of movement at the heart of which we practise being at rest.
Once we learn to discipline our minds we approach some understanding of Stillness.
The realm of Stillness is limitless.
Participants are required to have at least 10 hours experience of dancing the 5Rhythms and be willing to engage in this work with a curious mind, a focused body and a touch of humour. We dance as an essential part our own journey, but also in support of each others journey.
Prerequisites: 10 hours with certified 5 Rhythms teacher.
The workshop is a taster for the Ongoing Group “The Movement of Emotion” starting October 2012.
