These groups are generally by application only, and once begun are limited to the same group members for the duration. They comprise a set numbers of modules forming a continuum of study, staggered over a finite period of time with regular intervals between meetings.
They are often residential, and always have a central and continuing theme of enquiry. Participation means attending each module.
There are many advantages to working with the same people over time, foremost of which is the opportunity for the building of trust, understanding and mutual respect. We get the opportunity to know you better and so be more effective in supporting your learning. Students get the opportunity to share and witness each others journey and so widen their understanding. With gaps of some months between modules there is plenty of time to integrate ideas and consolidate learning. Group members are supported in developing and maintaining contact with each other which results in a deep felt sense of community and a valuable exchange of ideas over the duration. Long-lasting friendships are often forged here.
